Ode To The Lack Of A Mother

I grew up way to fast
Forced into taking care of you as if you were a child.
But you weren't a child
And I was
And that wasn't fair

I didn't get a normal childhood
Sometimes I wish I did
But I happen to know better
Than to want what I can't have
Regardless of how pretty it is

When I look back at you and me
When I look back on our situation
I want to see us happy
Not us coping
With something we can never have.
